Geek Magnet by Kieran Scott

Everybody loves KJ. Especially the geeks. See, KJ Miller is super nice, smart, pretty, the stage manager of her high school's spring musical . . . and a total geek magnet. She's like the geek pied piper of Washington High, drawing every socially clueless guy in a five-mile radius. If only Cameron, the hottest guy in school, would follow her around and worship her the way her entourage of dorks do. Enter Tama Gold, queen of the popular crowd, and solution to all of KJ's problems. KJ is too nice, and the nice girl never gets the guy. Tama's ready to help KJ get cruel, ditch the dorks, and win Cameron's heart. But is KJ?

My Thoughts:

I fell hopeless, deeplessly in love with this book. I finished this book in 24 hours and that's only because I had to run a few errands.

I really love this book because it's so different, because this author took risks in areas where other authors haven't. I really appreciate the fact that she didn't make stereotypical choices with her characters since it's too tempting to do so.

I also love this author because of the real depthness that she gave each character. The only thing that I was slightly surprised and saddened by was the fact that we didn't know more about Tama. I wished Kieran Scott would have delved deeper into her character and what was going on.

Now, onto the dissection.

Characters: I love KJ. She's fresh, original and I can totally identify with her. We both have the big breasts issue and sometimes, I had to laugh since it brought back memories.

Did I mention the great humor this author has? Love it!

I also love Robbie. I could tell who he was and what he was there for right away. I even liked Tama, since she wasn't the typical popular girl. She's African American and I can appreciate the author for making a minority character a major character in her novel. And she did a great job with her character.

I can really fall for an author who makes a daring choice like that. Also, the humor helped, lol.

I don't think there was one character that I didn't like. Even Andy I liked. I liked his quirky behavior. It's qite cute actually.

Dialogue: Realistic. Quirky. Witty. And straight to the point.

Plot: Okay, I like the few twists and turns she threw in there but I did predict some things right. But it's refreshing to get thrown for a loop once in a while.

Setting: Hmm, I don't think I remember the setting much. I know she explored the surrounding a bit, but I can;'t simply remember where they were. Which is fine by me.

Ending: Ah, the ending. It was a realistic bow tie effect. I love it when an author can be honest about serious issues. There is no happily ever ending in real life.

With that being said, don't worry. I can guarantee you that you will love the ending. I think you'll be surprised about what the subject of the ending is and how it ties into the whole story.

Overall: Would I recommend this book?

Absolutely. This book is wonderfully and cleverly written in a way that I will never forget it. I also think if you're looking for a laugh, then please run (yes, run) to the bookstore to get this lovely book.

I promise you will not regret it!
